I’ve been around - doing hair in Vancouver for the past 18 years. I’ve probably done the hair of nearly every local musician, almost every other hairstylist and a bunch of fancy celebrities. From actress Laura Linney, to local drag performer Teen Jesus Barbie, to local and international musicians. Live television, commercials, fashion shows, photo shoots, and high-end salon work, you name it, I’ve done it.
For the past two years I’ve had a blast doing headpieces for the annual House of Venus “Wiggle” fundraising event that benefits YouthCo. My closet Canadian Idol fan friends were particularly impressed when I did the judges hair. Name-dropping aside, what it comes down to is that I love what I do, no matter whose hair it is. The reason I love it, still after all these years, is because all day long I get to make people look and feel good.
It might sound cheesy, but I consider myself very lucky. I get to meet tons of people from all over and it never gets tired. I’ve been successful because I care about my clients and never forget that at the end of the dayit’s about them and what makes them happy. Plus, if I do say so myself, I’m damn good at what I do. Basically, bringing out the best in my clients brings out the best in me. Having lived in the West End and Yaletown for years I am totally in touch with the ever-buzzing vibrations of Downtown Vancouver, Oh, and I’m an excellent dancer.
Luxury and convenience is the name of the game. The thing with the salon system is that it doesn’t work for everyone. That’s where Dial-A-Doo comes in. With my portable mini-salon, I come to you. If your aim is to receive personal uninterrupted service and be treated like the star you are, then having your stylist come to you at your convenience, is the way to go. I arrive fully equipped with a porta-sink, mini vacuum, chair cover/hair catching mat, a tri-pod mirror, all necessary products and tools of the craft. If you want the dish-n-bitch social aspect of getting your hair done, invite a friend, make some Mimosa’s and I’ll do two ‘do’s. Or throw a Makeover party of up to five clients and not only will you get a fantastic new hairdo, but I’ve teamed up with make up artists and estheticians to offer everything from haircuts to makeup and facials, all in the comfort of your own home.
